I was only ten months old when my circumcision was botched badly, so the only way I could lead a normal life without ridicule was to form a female genitalia out of the remains of my penis, and by the time I was 1 - I was a girl. Now I am seventeen and loving life as a girl, having plenty of fun, but I'm not entirely sure what would be ideal for me moving forwards. I don't know what being a boy feels like because it's too hard to remember when I was one, but I know lots about being a girl because it's the only gender I've known. What advantages lie with staying as a girl and having final surgeries to stay as a girl, and what are the benefits of changing back to being a male?

Answer:
If you're happy living as a girl, stick with it. It will be better for you later on in life if you just stick with what works best for you. Also, changing from one gender to the other would be a very difficult transition for a lot of people. Our gender influences our reaction to stimuli, our mannerisms, inflections in our voice, down to the way we stand

For an example, stand still and put your hands on your hips, theres a good chance you'll be standing with your thumbs out facing your belly button if you identify as a woman. Just don't use that as the only identifier though if that's not the case. :)

On the flip side, I have the ability to see you having difficulty later in life with some people who may have issues with you being genetically a guy. Also, if you want to be a biological mom, that's out of the question. Finally, if you're attracted to men, which I assume you’re since you stated you generally identify as being a female, some men may not like the idea of being with a person who is genetically male. Personally, that wouldn't bother me at all, but I do know people would take issue with it.

So it really comes down to weighing the pros and cons of each gender, but also realizing that the switch itself won't be easy. Training yourself to act like a guy, and to not stand out as too effeminate will take lots of practice and hard work.

But I wish you good luck with whatever choice do do make.

To consider-being in this world is only temporary-No one asked where Jane's heart truly lies.

If Jane is truly happy, why is there a question being asked-seek out Jesus Christ-only he has the ability to help you. Report Abuse

Answer:
…wow. Uh, if you like being a girl then stay as one. If you've been one for 17 years and you enjoyed being a female, then don't change back into a male.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. This is one of the reasons why I am against circumcision unless there’s a valid medical reason for it.

Most people are born with one gender & identify both physically & mentally with that gender. I think it's a combination of nature & nurture, but mostly nature. Sometimes, people's bodies don't match their minds, they have the ability to feel like one gender but physically have the characteristics of the opposite gender. Some people are not either gender, but both… It is usually black & white, boy or girl, but there are some small gray areas..

If you were raised like a girl, brought up like a girl, are happy as a girl… then by all means stay as a girl. If you feel that maybe nature is stronger than nurture for you, maybe you can try to have a more male presence & see if you’re more comfortable with that. Don't pay attention to any “benefits” of being male or female… Just listen to your own heart & do what you’ve to do to make yourself happy. Don't get any permanent surgeries or procedures unless you are absolutely, positively sure that you want to live as a female or male for the rest of your life.

By the way, you don't have to select! Some people have a more androgynous presence & they are comfortable with that. Some people like to experiment as both genders. You don't have to fit into a neat little category.

And each man & woman has both feminine & masculine characteristics & traits. It is like ying & yang. Men are mostly masculine but all of them have a feminine side too, no matter how small. Women are mostly feminine but all have a masculine side, no matter how small. Some people are almost half/half, some men are more feminine, some women are masculine, etc.

In other words what I'm trying to say is that gender isn't necessarily a black & white thing, neither physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually.

I would see a therapist if you’re having these feelings hon. Reassignment surgery is a really life altering thing to go through. Since you've been a male to female post op for 17 years, changing back to male might be more devastating than you realize. Emotionally and physically you need to evaluate what you identify with more, male or female? The obvious advantage in staying female is that you’ve those 17 years experience behind you. To go back to being male means changing everything you’ve learned about being female, traits, mannerisms, feelings, etc. Just a lot to think about there. Honestly, no one can make this decision for you and no one can step into your shoes. Perhaps you would learn much from finding a support group of trans-gender persons, they might be able to give you more perspective. I hope you do whatever makes you happiest…Good luck!

Answer:
the problem is you dont have that smooth soft skin most girls would have, and your probably flat and dont let a guy know about this or else no one would want to have sex with you
