I’ve a friend who says she only makes herself throw up when she feels like she has eaten too much. She claims she does it 'Every once in a while' Is this hazardous to her health? She is a healthy size and I'm worried about her. Is this okay for her to do this?
Answer:
That's how it starts. It'll be each time she feels she's eaten too much, and then it'll be every time she eats something unhealthy, and then it'll just be every time she eats.
I would do something now before it's too late for her. You don't want to watch your friend fall into the horrible grasp of an eating disorder.
Tell her that it's not good, no matter what the circumstances, to force yourself to throw up.
Answer:
No, it is not.
Vomiting causes stomach acid to come up through the esophagus and mouth, which can damage your throat and teeth. Frequent vomiting can also lead to dehydration, potassium deficiency, and heart failure.
More importantly, this is a very unhealthy psychological attitude. Your friend has an eating disorder, and she’s prone to be the worst judge of how serious it is. You should encourage her to speak to her parents or a school counselor.
See below for a link to one site about helping people with bulimia.
Answer:
It is nice of you to be concerned.
It is perilous to her health and will likely escalate or is already more than she’s admitting to. It is really hard on people's teeth too and will begin to affect her appearance. Here’s a specific reference to the dental aspect of bulemia.
You should nicely try to direct your friend to a doctor &/or counselor for help. Good luck.
Answer:
No… Let her know that it gets addicting. Bulimics begin off “every once in a while” and then more and more until it's each day.

Check out this site shows how it can effect your body EVEN if you only do it every once and a while and also tells what you can do to help her.
Answer:
1) NOT ok
2) it'll ruin her teeth and likely cause throat ulcers (stomach acid)
3)most bulimics are normal to a little over weight, anorexics are quite thin
4)if she does it, she does it a lot- and hides it
–does she leave restaurants swiftly??
–does she eat a lot– binge?? then vomit?
–does she think she is more massive than she is??
5)she needs help– tell your mother, her mother, aunt- someone who can approach and help her in a positive manner
