Can it happen if you get lucky or does it barely ever happen?

Given that comas are the result of things going massively wrong with your body, and that big problems tend to result in longterm damage, I`d state no. You`d most likely be even dumber than before.

I think the brain would either function at the same speed it did before the coma or slower.
