So here's the deal, for roughly a year now i've been experiancing off and on diareaha, stomach aches, and pain. The doctor's tried me on medication for IBS, and put me through a blood test and an ultrasound, both which revealed nothing.

Now recently, within the last month i've been having a deep, piercing pain in my lower right side (front and back). It's not there all the time and it's not very severe but it is an annoyance.

I also had severe constipation for a week and since then my stools have been irregular. They were some instances in which they were tinged red (we suspected blood although it could be from red coloured food and drinks) and then today they were very, very dark but not black, they were more greenish.

Another possible cause is my menstrual cycle. The constipation occurred just before my period, and I started having bad diarreah after along with bad naseua. (I've just started on the pill in last week, could that be a cause?)

Could this an important problem?

Answer:
It doesn't sound like an urgent situation unless your pain is so severe and you start vomiting and/or have a fever.

You could have colitis or even crohns disease. Most bowel disorders cause you to have pain on the left side since that's where your colon is but you can have pain on both sides or just the right side.

I would think the green/dark stool is from the fiber in your diet like you stated.

Have patience, have the barium enema and get the stool for OB and see what your diagnosis is. I'm assuming you’re going to a Gastroenterologist?

Hope you feel better soon and good luck with your tests.
