I’m a 14 year old male, and over the past year I have been blinking rather oddly. I'm not sure whether its a habit of mine or OCD or some sort of weird tic, but every so often I encounter a very forced blink, where I use my eye muscles to push my eyelid down very firmly.

I have the ability to force myself to consciously stop, but I need to concentrate myself to do it and I'm not always concentrating on just my eyes. People make fun of me at school; I don't really mind it but I guess it is a bit annoying. I blocks my vision for a millisecond longer than it's supposed to.

BUT when I'm playing a game where I really need my eyes open at all times; such as water polo or table tennis, my eyes are always open normally and only blink when necessary.

I want to halt this, so if anybody has a clue on how to stop it, please state it :)

Answer:
What you're describing is blepharospasm. It sounds fancy but it's just a science-y word for “eyelid spasm”. It can be caused by lots of things including stress and anxiety. A school psychologist can help you determine if that’s the case. Try to determine what makes the condition worse, including time of day, location, and the people around you. Also, bring the subject up at your next eye exam. Subtle problems with your eyes or vision may be part of the puzzle.

Kid's are mean. Don't let it get you down. Most of the people that tease others are hiding their own insecurities.

This could be interesting for your school psychologist. They go to school for this kind of stuff and end up doing lame tests. See if you can make an appointment.
