Would the symptoms appear immediately after wearing contacts? I’ve allergies now, but my eye physician says they’re seasonal, and I want to believe him. I use Opti-Free solution, and the first week or so I wore contacts, I had no problems. It was only recently that my right eye began to irritate me. My eye doctor checked underneath my eye lid — there were bumps there that he said were the result of seasonal allergies, and he gave me drops for them. If I had been allergic to the solution, would the symptoms have appeared immediately? Or would they take a week or so to show up?
Answer:
Yes, once you develop an allergy to a certain solution, it is immediate each time you put your contacts on. Redness, itchy, burning.
It might happen, but I’ve never seen an allergy to solutions affect just one eye , and it never causes the visible symptoms you have.
Answer:
Mine used to. But I also found many years ago never to use soap to wash your hand before putting contacts in. I just use hot water and scrub hard. It does sound like seasonal allergies, I have the same problem this time of the year. They dont just guess at the diagnosis, they actually look on the inside of the eye lid. There are white spots that let them know.
