I’m thinking of getting Lasik eye surgery, but am really squeamish about having my eyeball touched, let alone having flaps on it pulled up ect. I heard they give you drops to numb the eye, but can you still see / tell when they are touching your eye while they are doing their thing?

I got Lasik done one year ago, it was the best thing I've ever done! However it took me 2 years to work up enough nerve because I was sooooo squeamish about my eyes. The morning I went in I was offered a valium( took it) and they numbed my eyes I couldn’t tell a thing and could not believe how fast it was over. The dr. explained every step of the way and I could kick myself for not going sooner. All I have the ability to state is GO for IT!!!!
Answer:
At first yes, but when they create the flap, the vision goes grey, like looking through a shower stall door. You can still see the red fixation light, though. It's very swift and painless.
Answer:
I haven't had it myself but all of the things I've seen about LASIK have been good, most people who've had the op are really positive about it and are happy with the result.
