Answer:
Self harm, especially suicide or an accidental death due to cutting, causes a very painful, complicated sort of grief in parents, loved ones, and friends that can last a lifetime. The amount of pain, guilt, and anger in survivors is immeasurable. Losing a child is especially difficult–probably the most difficult kind of grief.

The injustice comes from the deceased, having been reckless or hell bent on death, without reaching out to loved ones or the many mental health services available in the country. It is taken as a gigantic fugg you by the survivors.

Cutting is also unjust. It is a form of self damage that’s kept highly secret. Parents and friends don't know, and thus have no chance of intervening. It is as if the cutter is saying you’re too stupid to comprehend me or help me with my pain. People can and do rise to the occasion when a friend or loved one is in pain. Plus, there's always the psych ward. Slicing is hazardous, and is definitely not therapy.

I've had three suicides in my family, and know survivor's guilt, anger, deep sadness, and an unfinished feeling, as I didn’t get a chance to help the person or say goodbye. In addition, I was my sister's executor, so I became intimately informed about the tenor of her last days.
