(Sorry this is long)
Let me know your experiences, they will probably help with this.
I've been experiencing a lot of anxiety the past few months. In the past 6 months I've gotten married, my husbands 17 year old sister has died, and I've had uncommon stress at my job. Sometimes while driving, I get so nervous that I feel like I'm going to wreck and I have no idea what triggers it. Sometimes I just get downright sad and have trouble with just normal things. I’ve terrible problems falling asleep.
My father and brothers have offered me things to help, like ambien CR and low-doses of xanax, but I refused because I feel like I shouldn't take things without my name on the prescription. I have a great job and you never know when they'd pop a random drug test on the whole department.
I want to be legal, but would those be the things I need?
Also, I’ll not get on Zoloft or anything like that because that seems entirely too frightening to me. I don't want to be on something that I NEED, and that I'd have problems getting off of when things get superior.
I have a physicians appointment next week.
Answer:
Please tell all of this to your physician. He is the ideal person to either issue you with the required medication or refer you on to someone more qualified. No wonder you’re having so much anxiety with all of the traumas you have suffered in such a short time. Sometimes a period of 'normal' life will sort things out for you or, sometimes you just need a little help. If the doctor advocates the latter then take his advice. No medic worth their name would put you on drugs you’ll become reliant on unless you really need them to function. You wouldn’t state no to insulin if you were diabetic now would you? Consequently, don't say no to a short course of any drug (if you’re offered these) that’ll help you through your present difficulties.
Answer:
Just try to get through these next few days until your doctor can help you. Your physician will help you through it and hopefully provide you with the ideal solution.
