About a week ago, a coworker asked me how my weekend was. I said that I had the opportunity to play some golf, and it was fun because I don't get to play it very often.

Her response, in a very serious and non-joking tone: “You suck horsesh*t”. Then she went back to her desk and didn't speak to me for 3 days.

When she finally did talk to me, I calmly told her that her previous comment was immature and unprofessional. She told me that I need to “lighten up”.

I think her behavior was inappropriate. What are your thoughts?

Answer:
Even if she thought she was being funny, it was offensive to you. You handled it correctly by trying to talk to her again in a calm way, but it sounds like she pretty much acted the same way and didn't want to hear what you had to state.

If you can just ignore her comments, then I would stick to that. Be cordial when you pass in the hall, etc, but leave it at that. However, if her behavior were to get worse where it was causing interference with your work, then you should talk to your boss.

Answer:
i think she is your coworker and you should act mature. regardless if her behavior was appropriate or not. i hope se goes straight to your supervisor on this one.

also keep personal things PRIVATE. when asks how your weekend was simply say “great, thanks. how was yours” you crossed the line by bringing personal matters into the workplace.

Answer:
So she was joking? That's a weird/unfunny joke. I'd just ignore her if i were you, i don't think you overreacted don't worry.

Answer:
Yes and in the future don't talk to her.
