My boyfriends lower back has been hurting all day what do you think it could be he says he can't move around too much he felt like that since yesterday. and he hasn't lifted up anything heavy.

Answer:
Most likely it would be what doctors call 'LS Strain' which is a strain on the muscles surround the lumbar section of the lower back. Those type of strains can only be injured by lying motionless. Take some tylenol, and have him begin walking around the house/yard/block, or whatever he can tolerate - and no lifting upwards of 20lbs. If it doesn't improve in a few days it is time to see a doctor.

Answer:
it could have been the way he slept, or if he was sitting for a long time.

If he's sitting or standing for long periods of time he should elevate one leg up a few inches higher then the other.

If he's lying down putting a pillow between his knees might help.

It's probably not a good idea to lie down too much, you might advocate going for a walk with him, this might help also.

a cold shower or bath will help with inflammation as well.

Answer:
It could just be a strained muscle if it's just one day and he didn't lift anything heavy. If it persists for a week or if it's excruciating go to a hospital or a professional instead of Yahoo Answers.

Answer:
If its the lower back he must have been stretching a muscle he has never used before and the muscle is very weak, he has flat feet and that can cause a pain in the lower back.

Answer:

Answer:
Probably where/how he sleeps. I sleep on the floor every night and never had a problem with my back.

Answer:

It could be his kidneys. Tell him to drink water. Actually have go to the doctor.

Answer:
It's probably a pinched nerve or pulled muscle. He'll be fine in a few days.
