My husband was put on clonazepam and it is making him very ill. is there something better?

call the dr, you cannot abruptly stop klonopin–they NEED to tell you what to do

i am sure they will prescribe something else.

Clonazepam does take time to get used to, but he may be reacting to it depending on other medication

if you are worried about sedation, this med does cause that effect

i have been on this med for a number of years and know from experience you cannot just quit — this is a benzodiazapene

I was put on to Clonazepam from another medicine which I can't recall but that wasn't working for me. My doctor at the time told me there were 4-5 different medicines of similar effectiveness at the level I needed, so if Clonazepam didn't work, we still had other options. Fortunately for me, it was very effective, but different medicines are tolerated differently by everyone.

Just go back to your husband's doctor and ask that he be put on something else, and you should be able to get a new medicine to try.
