Infection Pinky Finger?

Author: admin

Hey there,

I’ve a swollen left pinky finger, It is between the Middle Phalanx & the Proximal Phalanx.

I woke up one morning to find it swollen, the swelling has not gone down despite 3 days of ice packs, elevation and rest.

The GP has informed me to go to the hospital and he will give me an xray form so they can take a look at my joints.

However, it is the NHS and I would prefer not waste the hospitals time over a minor occurance, unless it is necessary.

My right hand pinky swelled and did the same thing a few weeks ago, however I think it is unrelated.

My left pinky is tender, feels hard in the swollen region and I have a small cut , but the cut was done AFTER the swelling appeared.

It is also numb at the tip and feels like there is a fluid buildup.

I did crack my knuckle before this happened, but I don't believe that to have any relation to this.

If my GP can't give me an answer, I am hoping you guys can!

Please?

Thank you so very much in advance

Answer:
Best advice get it x-rayed after three days if it hasn't improved then there is something more serious going on. There is nothing that’s not serious enough or to be embarrassed about enough to not go to the hospital over. Especially if your GP can't figure out what it is…and it hasn't improved in three days….then yes it is time for you to go to the hospital. What if it happens to be a blood clot and because you waited to long there has to be an amputation or something? You need to go to the hospital ASAP.

However, I would advocate you visit my fave website for medical questions. The website is:www.webmd.com

Look for the symptom checker enter age, gender and click away at the symptoms. The symptom checker will give you a diagnosis. Remember though it is not a replacement for a doctor's visit!

Well, hope you feel better!!!!!

Please get to the doctor. :) :)
