ive developed a lump in at the base of my neck (left hand side).its hard slightly painful.i have got a physicians appointment at 4.20 this day but im so so worried about it that i decided to ask on here beforehand.ive been under a lot of stress lately with arguments at home and my father leaving and then coming back.does anyone think that stress may be causing this, obviously I’ve began to assume the worst because of all the nasty things ive found on the web but im hoping that it might just be a gland

i advocate that you through with the consultation. He’ll be in the best position to tell you what’s happening. There’s indeed a lot of structures in the neck that could present as a lump. Wehave 300-500 lymphnodes for example. A thyroid gland enlargement is also very common. Donot stress yourself too much. It just might well be an inflammatory condition that can be treated with medications.

You probably have a swollen lymph node or a cyst. If you do have a swollen lymph node, that might mean you have an infection somewhere. You'll just need antibiotics. I don't think stress is causing it. Stress may have weakened your immune system, leaving you slightly more susceptible to infection, though.
I’ve a swollen lymph node on the back of my head and a simple course of Amoxicillin is working wonders.

It might be tonsillities (pronounced ton-si-li-ties) which is when your tonsils or glands expand so that there’s a lump in your neck. Usually symptoms are that when you swallow food or air, there is usually pain. The usual cure for this will be a medicine which should work in a week at the most. If you are in your later stages, then it will have to be surgerically removed.
However, there are a million diseases and you should check just in case.
