Sprained Ankle?

Author: admin

Yesterday during a lacrosse game, I twisted my ankle. It hurt for a second but then I got up and started playing without any pain. Today, however, it hurts and it's a tab swollen. I have to play tomorrow and the rest of the week. I have taped, elevated, and ice. I can also easily walk on it, jump on it, and cut on it. It's just a little uncomfortable. If I play this week (this is the most important week), will I make it A LOT worse? Thanks!

Answer:
You just have to know your limits. You should play if it doesn't hurt and then if it does keep hurting, get an x ray and stay off of it. I've had plenty of sprained ankles. Trust me. Just know what your body can handle and go with it. You should keep playing if you want to and stop if it hurts. Thats what the doctor would tell you unless its a fracture or a break. Good luck

Answer:
You will probably make it a little bit worse but it will get better as you play.

Answer:
I woudn't think so, just be careful

Answer:
i had a sprained ankle but it was a little worse. there are three degrees. you probably have the first from what it sounds like. it wouldnt make it a lot worse, but it might take longer to fully heal.

Answer:
I think it will 'cause if you keep on playing, it WILL get worser.

Answer:
Well you sould keep your foot up with ice . Also take pain pills . I it gets worse by the end of the week then go to your doctor . It will probably just be either hairline or yes sprained . But often sprains hurt a load worse.

just chill. i have got a blood clot in my knee ind i f****d it up coming back early! i should of bin back playing footy in 4 months but now i might never play! : ( don't make the same mistake i did!

Answer:
Once you "turn an ankle" it is easy to make it worse by reinjuring it. So you have to wear a support. Get a good one that really fits. You might want to look in the Yellow Pages for an orthotist who can properly fit you. The kind that lace up are good because you can adjust it if your swelling is a little better or worse. Also why not add a little Advil to your ice and elevation. You did the right stuff, but taping might not be as good as the right support. Good luck in your games.

well, i have sprained my ankle 2 times. both times i twisted it, then kept playing (soccer). the next day i twisted it again. it did make it worse. i had to have an air cast and crutches for like 4-6 weeks and the other time i had a boot for 6-8 weeks/ so maybe if it doesnt really hurt (mine did) you can try to warm up, but if it hurts, swells, or if you twist it again, i would tell your coach and take a rest. especially if this week is important. you want to play, i realize that, but you dont want to not try your hardest and let your team down…good luck and feel better!

Answer:
If you remember to ice it and tape it well, you should be ok. Make sure it is taped correctly, you will need the support. If its not supported right you may end up getting a real bad swelling afterwords. Try to avoid any high jumping and landing directly on it. Ice it between games and breaks. Most people will do fine, at least I always did during football.

Answer:
You WILL make it much worse. What you should have done was left the shoe on as long as possible to cut the swelling. Then, after a day, or so, remove the shoe then begin to ice and elevation. No bracing or taping until the swelling has gone down. The blood attempting to flow there has a hard time doing so because of the tape. Be kind to your ankle for now; however, if you must play on it, try your best to play your best in short incriments. The rougher you are on it, the more damage you will do.

Some heat packs (swapping with ice packs) may also be a good idea, because you want the ligaments and tendons to repair themselves but not get too stiff while doing so.
