I'm type 1 and have great control (literally no complications after 25 years). But, on the rare occasion I get upset I immediately plummet FAST. Does this happen to anyone else? And why does this happen? I distance run, lift weights and practice martial arts without this happening. I'm at a loss for why strong emotions do this.

Answer:
Being a teenager, I’ve emotions that are sometimes off-the-walls and I've noticed that when I'm unusually emotional my blood sugar tends to drop as well. I'm not sure why, but my diabetes educator has said that this is normal because of the way the body synthesizes insulin is sped up by the release of certain hormones when you're experiencing strong emotions.

Answer:
are you sure it's not working the other way around? you getting upset more than normal because you BGL is dropping…

it's not something i've ever noticed, my emotions don't really have all that much effect on my BGL, stress makes it run a little higher sometimes, but not by much.

Answer:
No it doesn't happen to me.
I get short tempered and emotional when my sugar is high which is not often.
I can get emotional when my sugar level is low, but getting emotional does not cause my sugar to drop.
I’ve never heard of it either.
Hope this helps
