Hamster got conjunctivitis , and can humans catch it, because my eyes are really sore and itchy?

I am sure they have the ability to as the cause in both animals and humans is often a superficial bacterial infection. Most episodes require only repeated cleansing, antibiotics have tiny effect on the outcome and are seldom necessary.

Yes is it contagious no matter who the carrier or the reciever is. Conjunctivitis is “Pink Eye” for those that don't know. You should protect yourself by washing your hands thoroughly after handing the animal or any of it's belongings. Also, you should take extra care in keeping the cage, toys, food dish, and water bottle cleaned for the duration of the infection. If you are already experiencing sore itchy eyes, then you should go to the doctor or health clinic immediatly for treatment, as you could also spread it to others around you.
