Usually they just give antibiotics. I had several as a teenager and not once did a doctor lance them.

Hi there . I got one of those . You can get it lanced but there is no need . Allow it to go its own way till it bursts then keep it covered to prevent it healing that way it will drain fully . Alternatively use hyroquartezone cream and keep it covered this will reduce its size and eventually it will go .

Yes boils do still tend to get lanced. Usually the relief is way greater than any discomfort during the procedure - it is very swift.
