Hi,

Simplified answer -

Recombinant human insulin is produced by genetically altered yeast that has been engineered to produce human insulin. Recombinant insulins come in a variety of genetic formulations, depending upon the desired unit strength, onset, and duration of action. There are many drugs that are produced in similar manner.

The recombinant human insulin is reliable in uniform dosing; and vastly less likely to produce an allergic or immune response, as opposed to the obsolete pork or bovine (cow) insulin used in the past.

Hope this helps.
