I was soooo sick all morning.
I finally took cough syrup and I totally feel better.
I had spent all day wheezing , coughing, spitting up phlem.
Answer:
sometimes while getting the asthma under control the accute symptoms will get worse. This is because the medication is dialating the bronchials and loosening the mucus, etc that is in there. This mucus then has to be coughed out. Also if the asthma is effecting the small airways they may have been too constricted to allow wheezing and as they open you will experience wheezing. A cough suppressant is not a good idea with asthma as it keeps you from coughing out the mucus and allows it to compact.
Talk with your doctor, you may need to adjust the medication and you may need a round of strong prednisone dosage to get the asthma under control to begin. Also keep in mind that inhaled steroids take 7 days to start working at all and up to 30 days to reach theraputic levels.
A good place to research asthma is http://www.nationaljewish.or and http://www.ginasthma.com
Answer:
Try benidryl quick strips, or even the syrup. An albuterol nebulizer will also help.
Answer:
you might want a second opinion. If it is Asthma the cough syrup wouldn't take care of it completely.
Albuteral is the best fast acting asthma medication.
Other meds like singular and advair are not for immediate relief but for long term preventative.
