Cardio is a great way to tone up! If you are aiming for a six pack however, you will need to do strength training exercises that isolate and target that particular part of the body.
I advocate bicycle crunches, because they work all of the abdominal areas in one simple workout. Do as many as you feel you can, then take a breather. Compute your own reps to personalize your workout, but don't push yourself too hard. Strength training should be done 3 times a week. Alternate days that way your muscles have time to mend themselves, allowing for full and proper growth. Gradually you will find yourself increasing your reps and it will come easier to you. You can add weights for more resistance if you feel it is too simple.
Here’s a great instructional video to show you how to do it.

Strength training is best done in sets, but you should work more than one part of the body to balance your strength and optimize effects. Perhaps after you are done with your crunches, you could do some weight curls to strengthen your arms as or quads (legs) as well.
As added advice, you should have a higher protein intake and maybe consume a bit more carbs. Protein shakes are excellent if you can stomach them (some are made tastier by adding sugar, but it decreases it health value somewhat) and can be found throughout many health food stores. Gnc is a great place to look. Eating foods like Pasta or Rice is great the night before you do your strength training, as it will store energy and compounds that you need build muscle properly and efficiently. A BMI of 18% is a little low, and you’ll not build as much muscle until you change your diet to suit your needs. Good luck, and take care of yourself!
