i'm 5' 3″ a female and am 17 years old and am 124 lbs. and i eat about 600 to 900 calories a day, pretty much each day for the majority of my life. i am also pretty sedentary when it comes to activity but i mean every now and then ill get all hyped up and work out for around an hour to two for a week or two everyday lol(but then i just quit haha) but i also you kno go places and hang out with friends at the mall and such. not quite exercise but activity none the less.

but looking at how many calories a person burns a day and such i was wondering why i am 124 lbs. and not less. i have no muscle wat so ever so any extra weight is just fat. i mean my physician told me i need to loose weight also. i have probably the highest fat percentage possible for my body relative to my weight and height.

so to get to the point, why do i not weigh less??

Answer:
First of all you are not eating enough calories. You should never go below 1200 calories per day. Your metabolism has slowed down and you need to give it a boost by eating more calories and maybe 6 mini meals a day. Plus you need to exercise at least 5 times a week for 30 minutes even if it's only walking at a moderate pace. Also lifting weight is good to boost metabolism. Try to avoid fatty foods and drink planty of water. If you follow this plan the scale will start going down. Good luck!

Answer:
Did your physician suggest you lose weight or lose fat? Your percentage of body fat is most likely due to the low amount of calories you’re consuming. Your body is storing the food you eat as fat since you body is in survival mode since you’re starving yourself.

Eat healthy foods including fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, dairy and drink plenty of water. Keep fried foods and sugar off of your dietary intake. Also exercise regularly for 30 minutes to an hour about 4 days per week.

Answer:
your calorie intake is a tiny low. and your height and weight seem perfectly normal to me.. try walking lots and eating healthy… lift weights to build muscle.. you don't lose weight by not exercizing or eating unhealthy.

if you build up your muscle and lose the fat.. the weight you’re is perfectly fine.

Answer:
You should begin weight training because your body burns more fat when you’ve more muscle on you. You also need to excercise more than twice a week to begin loosing weight.

Answer:
When you eat so few calories a day you body thinks its starving and your metabolism will slow down and you’ll store calories instead of burning them.

Everybody has a set weight point. A set weight point the weight that your body will fight to maintain no matter what you do, short of starving yourself completely your metabolism will slow, and your insulin production will change to counteract your efforts.

You could also be miscalculating the number of calories you’re eating each day. People forget about the stuff they drink. Milk, juice, and soda have a lot of calories, and they tend to leave out little things they eat throughout the day.

You could also have a thyroid condition. An underactive thyroid can cause this to happen, and it’s pretty common. Talk to your physician, and get his checked.

Actually, your BMI (body mass index) is ideal. You rate a 22.0 and the average is between 18.5 and 25, being over 25 is overweight and under 18.5 under weight. Is most of your family overweight? Sometimes body shape and weight is determined by your genes. I mean, you can still fight gaining weight if your family is typically overweight, look at Jessica Alba. Most of her family is overweight. She started dieting and working out from the age of 12. You “should” workout at LEAST 3X a week, including cardio and weight training. Change you typical eating habits, instead of fried chicken get baked or grilled. Choose skinless chicken, you could take off a lot of fat and calories just being doing this. Mail me if you want to know more. :]

Answer:
WHAT & HOW you eat are part of your 'picture'. Eat Chinese food. Have you ever seen many fat Chinese? I really believe you're 'miscounting' your cals. You should lose weight on 1,000cals per day.

You are a mite too heavy; 10 lbs. off could make a huge difference in your energy. Most Americans don't like to exercise, but it's necessary to a healthy life.

WALK, if you do nothing else. Swim, if you can. Push away from the table more & sooner; that's excellent exercise that's not hard. No fried or greasy foods. NO sodas or 'pop' (blast on a weekend, ok.) Pizza is ok but watch out what's on top.

Good luck! You can be a Winner! :)

Answer:
well I wouldnt say your overweight… you need to consume more calories though an average adult should consume 1500 calories a day so if your only doing 600 you body isnt getting the calories it needs…

Explain:

If your overweight and you consume 600 calories a day to try and loose weight you will actually not loose any becuase your body will begin to store fat because it doesnt know when you will eat again so basically to loose weight you have to eat a healthy well balanced diet with mix of fruit, veg, few carbs, fibre, calcium, protein etc etc… and make sure you’re consumming the correct amount of calories as i stated a normal female should be consumming 1500 calories a day..

Also if say one day you eat 900 calories the next you eat 1400, then 1500, then 600 and so on your body will not allow you to loose weight as your food intake will be irratice your body will begin to store fat. So you need to keep a food diary and consume the same amount of caloires each day.
