Six days ago I had three wisdom teeth extracted. One was a tiny tricky and they’d warned me that a lot of bone had to be taken away to get to the tooth, but it wasn't too horrible. The morning after my surgery I woke up to swelling the size of a golf ball on the side where there was complications. They gave me pain killers, but I don't really like to take them because they make me ill. The pain wasn't bad at all, I'd say it was more of a anguish in the swelling than anything else. The swelling has gone down considerably since, although my face is still a tiny swollen. The pain however has gotten worse. It's gone from just a minor anguish to a mild pain. When I tilt my head to that side, or lean over I can nearly feel blood rushing to that area and automatically get light headed. Although that may be normal. There was piratically no bleeding after the surgery, there wasn't even a need to really use the gauze. I taste a tiny blood each now and then, but nothing too serious. It doesn't always leave a bad taste in my mouth. Could this be a dry socket? I'm just concerned that the pain is worsening and that there is still swelling at all. I might just be over reacting, is this normal? I already have TMJ, and they’ve me wearing this tiny bunny rabbit ear thing with an ice pack in it. I did set up and appointment with my surgeon tomorrow, but I'd rather not go if there’s no reason. Help Please, I'm very concerned <3. Thanks in advance!

Answer:
i would reccomend keeping your appointment and gettin it checked out just in case,it could just take a bit longer to heal with it being a difficult extraction, but better to be safe than sorry,if it is dry socket the dentist will flush the socket clean with an antibacterial wash and put an alvogyl dressing on it,this will ease the pain as soon as it is put and then you’ll be given antibiotics to get rid of any infection.you dont want to be struggling to get an appointment if the pain gets worse! hope this hepls
