I have two appointments next week, and i'm wondering if he'll state something in front of my mum (who knows) and my tiny sister (who doesn't) about it.

Also i'm having an operation to rearrange my jaw, will me being a smoker affect their judgement of whether to do the operation?

Answer:
They will be able to tell you smoke from the staining on your teeth due to the nicotine but it won’t affect their judgement of whether to do the operation or not although they may advocate you do not smoke during the healing process as it could cause infection.

Answer:
It would be unlikely that he would not smell it. Depending on how much you smoke and for how long, there will also be typical smokers tarter on the teeth and there might be leukoplakia, the white pre-cancerous changes in the mucosa of the cheeks.

No he won't tell your mum! If you feel guilty about it, it already shows that you know it is the wrong thing to do. Why not stop?

Answer:
It should be pretty obvoius, especially to your dentist, since smokers usually have yellowed teeth and of course smokers breath, unless perhaps you use mouthwash to get rid of the smell, and whitening toothpaste.

Answer:
i smoked for years without my mum knowing and i went to the dentist and he didnt have a clue either. if you do have staining on your teeth, the dentist doesnt no for sure that its nicotine, it could be coffee.

Answer:
Dentists don't care if you smoke. They just care if you can pay the bill.

Answer:
yes the dentist will know.

Bad idea to smoke with open wounds in your mouth. Very bad idea.

Answer:
Yeah, especially if he doesn't smoke…smokers are smelly.

Answer:
Yes, more than likely~he can probably tell by stains on your teeth.
