My dad has come to visit for the first time in 5 years and on the first day that he’s here, I feel stuffiness and congestion in my right sinus and as well on the right side of my hard palate. What is the ideal way to avert this before it progresses further? I would like to be well for my father's visit.
Answer:
Homeopathically, it might be possible to recommend a couple of first-aid and acute care remedy options based on what you stated. Both recommendations should be available at health food stores and Nugget chains (as well as online). Sensations and modalities* are important in homeopathy. If your throat pain is burning, better with warm drinks, and you awaken or feel worse around midnight or 1:00 a.m., homeopathic Arsenicum would be indicated. You said your symptoms started on the right (an astute observation few people think to mention). If they eventually spread to the left, you like warm drinks, and you feel intimated around your dad, homeopathic Lycopodium will help. (Homeopathy is a mind-body medicine.) Potency** (the number and letter following the name, such as 30c, 6x, etc.) is secondary to the indicated remedy.
One dose of the correct remedy immediately stimulates one's defense mechanism and aborts the disease, so you'll rapidly heal. Follow vial directions regarding redosing. Note that my suggestions are purely guesstimates based on the tiny information available and my experience. The wrong remedy will cause no harm. A homeopathic remedy has no measurable physiological material, and is merely an energetic impulse similar to martial arts (going with the flow). If your symptoms do not match what I've described, or these remedies don’t work, more information is required beyond the scope of a post. For the future, this is the level of care that you can safely learn at home with a self-help book.
May you swiftly heal and have a lovely visit with your father. Please let me know how you do.

Superior then? I thought of you a lot yesterday, for many reasons. Take care. Report Abuse
Answer:
Vitamin C, Zinc and Echinacea are all very effective at shortening a cold.
But be aware that echinacea can actually make you feel worse before it makes you feel superior - it kind of 'flushes' the cold out - so your cold will get better quicker - but you may feel a little worse for a short time.
A salt nasal spray also works very well - as it cleans out your nasal passages of any lingering germs and helps a great deal with any stuffiness and congestion.
There are lots of other herbs that can soothe and ease your symptoms a great deal - on this page: http://www.natural-health-remedies-guide…
My personal favorite feel good is Ginger tea.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Answer:
I can't remember the last time I had a cold as I work more on prevention than cure, but I remember using an infusion of thyme.
Fill the cup 2/3 full with the infusion, add a third of good Jamaica rhum and a massive tablespoonfull of good honey. Take just before going to bed and be prepared to sweat. The next day I was perfectly fine.
Also: Propolis in spray form in the chewing form usually does the trick. Good to have in the (alternative) medicine cabinet.
Vitamin C should be taken as prevention. One full gram a day as prevention.
Contrary to what the answer above says, you CAN overdose on vitamin C already at 4 or 5 grams. You will feel colic pains and must then reduce the dose. This is important to know in case of flu when it is recommended to take up to 10 grams a day and watch for symptoms of overdosage. (Linus Pauling was the expert and has written all about this).
All the best to you and enjoy your dad's visit!
Answer:
1 Tbsp Dr. Schulze's “Supertonic” every 2-4 hours every waking hour until your cold is gone. You don't need to purchase it for $24 an ounce. Here’s the secret recipe:
1.5 fist-size amount of fresh garlic, peeled
1 fist-size amount of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
1 fist-size amount of fresh horseradish, peeled and
chopped
1 medium sized onion, peeled and chopped
4-5 habanero peppers
1 massive bottle of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar
You can get the habanero peppers and horseradish and
Braggs apple cider vinegar at Whole Foods.
Put all the dry ingredients in a VitaMix blender. Pour
apple cider vinegar into it until it is about 2-3
inches from the top of the pile (just enough to make a
liquid out of the pile). Blend the mixture until it is
liquified.
Pour it into a glass container(s). Mark it with the
date. Age it at room temperature for at least 14 days.
Shake this each day for the first few days. This
“Supertonic” will last forever. It does not need
refrigeration. The older it is, the more potent it
becomes.
Suggested uses: for colds, flu, internal infections,
etc. Kills bacteria, viruses, and mold. Boosts your
immunity.
Mix it with some olive oil and it makes a great spread
on bread. YUM!!
Answer:
5000mg of vitamin C daily at first indication of feeling unwell & suspecting a cold! Spread the dosage thruout the day & take with food to avoid upset tummy. (You can't overdose if you take in increments like that throughout the day)–body excretes the excess in urine).
It worked for me! Instead of having a full-blown miserable, sick cold & the lingering aftereffects, I had more like an “allergy attack” for 2-3 days!
Answer:
Lay on your side and have someone drop 3 drops of hydrogen peroxide in your ear canal. Lay there for at least 20 minutes to keep inside.
It will crackle and pop and may be a little annoying, but this will speed colds and flu along fast. I swear.
Also Echinacea and garlic supplements are great antibiotics, even try eating as much raw garlic (on salads) as you can.
Get superior
Answer:
There's not much you can do to cease a cold, only to prevent and to lessen the effects of a cold. My doctor once suggested taking up to 3500 Mg. of vit. C a day ( that would be 7 - 500 Mg. tabs a day) to ward off or lessen a colds effects, also take a pain reliever.
Answer:
once you feel one starting, take 2 echinacua, and 1000mg of vitamin C until symptoms of the onset go away, always worked for me. Havent been sick in 2years.
