My four year old brother is mildly Autistic but it effects him to the point that he throws tantrums, doesn't talk, doesn't use the toilet, doesn't play well with others. I'm a little afraid of putting him on the meds and having him turn into a drone. He's very smart. I just want to know if the Gluten free diet will help him any. Maybe someone with experience on the subject. I don't seen him as a disabled child, he's healthy, active and loves to play. There's virtually nothing wrong with him I'd just like to be able to communicate with him superior than having to interpret his actions.

My sister has a 4yo tiny boy who is on the ASD. He’s so allergic to glutein that it causes him to bleed (penis and scrotum) and to have serious eczema at the bends of his arms and wrists. She gets a rice bread w/ no glutein for him @ Trader Joe's and this is one of the few foods he’ll eat.

I’ve DEFINITELY seen diet changes help many kids, and not just those w/ ASD. You should see if you can get a copy of a movie called “Is This Your Child?” by H. Margaret Rapp, MD. It's shocking, and quite eye opening. Anyone who tells you that diet makes no difference in children's or people's lives quite simply has NO IDEA what they're talking about. Ask any pediatric allergist, nevermind some brainless idiot who isn't even a parent on these forums. I'm not saying diet changes will or will not cure autism, just that they can make a large difference for some kids. Also, you can present all your findings to your parents, and all your research, but unfortunately, unless you are your brother's legal guardian, the decision as to whether or not to change this child's diet will be ultimately up to your parents, not you. You could perhaps help by offering to do the shopping and/or some of the cooking.

I’ve also read reports of a process called chelation helping many children who've undergone it. I do not have any experience with this myself, so you’ll need to do your own research. There are many autism boards right here on yahoo.

Answer:
Try homeopathic treatment and Reiki as one of my friend's son also has Autism and with it has improved and sometimes talks words to his mother like a 1 year child would do but they are getting treatments for 6 months. Reiki is Japaneses art of healing and you can be attuned for it and give healing to your brother. it isnt pricey to learn it and takes a day to learn……… try it might help your brother too. Lots of prays for your brother and ideal wishes for you.

Answer:

Hi! I too have a brother who is a year and a month behind me that he is severly Autistic that my mom had taken him to a Homeopathic which has helped him a great deal. He was put on the rice as well as goats milk and homemade bread that didn't have any gluten in it. Try it out on your brother that it could work for him too. Get some recipes from a homeopathic person. You will have to make the bread yourself in the big loaf pans then cut them in half. You might freeze them. I wish you all the ideal with this. You might email me at jan40nholdin@hotmail.com.

Answer:
Autism is a mental disorder that is in no way affected by diet. Don't feed him any weird diets or else he might not get all his nutritional needs met.

Also:

If changing diets helped, then why wouldn't doctors suggest it?
