problems due to overtaxing the kidneys?

The idea that everyone needs to drink 8 glasses of water a day…above and beyond whatever water they get from foods, is nonsense. There is no clinical evidence to support that, but it somehow has become a rule.

Humans need a certain amount of water for our physiology to function properly. Healthy kidneys can get rid of the excess.

The problem with drinking too much water, as was shown last year when a woman died in a radio water drinking contest, is that dilution of the bodys electrolytes can cause all sorts of problems including seizures, brain swelling and death.

All things in moderation is really a good rule for life.

Seriously you're talking about huge amounts of water here.

Yes you can overwork kidneys by drinking too much water. You can also cause water intoxication (Hyponatremia). It has to do with low sodium concentration in your blood. This really has more risk to athletes than the average person. Bare in mind that this is usually caused by drinking too much water in a short space of time.

Your kidneys are designed to filter up to 15 liters (about 60 glasses) of water per day. It's only once you exceed this that you start risking damage. Of course this does change if you already have renal damage.

no ..it helps cleans toxin from your system. we eat alot of bad foods that need to be cleansed daily. it's good to drink a lot of water like that especially if you're not eat all that healthy and eating foods that are not high in anitoxidants.
